There was a great party yesterday (Wednesday) near the clock tower at the main Daytona State College campus, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Unfortunately many people had classes and it was hot. I caught that last 40 minutes after my Prof. Smith’s Calculus II class. I’ve culled over 100 photos down to 18 below.
I’m providing 4 megapixel print copies of all the photos. Just click “High-Res” to the right of the thumbnails. You can pick out people in crowds with those photos.
Three crowd shots:
This was busier than the parties from the past two years. Daytona State has more students every year. Everyone was very friendly. Rather than entrees, we had nachos and cookies, but with all the toppings, it was good enough to be a meal. I opened a checking account at the Regions bank booth and got a $10 Amazon gift card, T-Shirt, duffel bag, and bank. I only made a $1 deposit.
Joe Yazurlo from QUANTA 24 (2007-2008), getting some chili for his nachos. The food this year was vegetarian and vegan friendly. We had nachos and cookies (vegan), with these toppings: lettuce, salsa, black beans (vegan); cheese, sour cream (vegetarian); chili (meat). I piled my plate high with everything but the chili.
At 12:30 there was a big line, pictured above. They kept putting nachos and toppings out right till the end. I waited. I got a big plate at 12:55, walked it over to the cafeteria, and had a delicious lunch. I was lucky. There was no line then.
The Chick-fil-A cow was present, and several people won chicken sandwiches in a raffle. Chick-fil-A couldn’t bring sandwiches for everyone.
Line dancing with our bovine friend! It was awfully sunny and hot, but that didn’t stop these dedicated party animals.
Our favorite DJ. This famous fellow runs the PA system and music at almost every Daytona State party.
Jousting in an inflatable ring. The women’s team didn’t last long. They both fell after the second hit.
On the other hand, the men’s team really clobbered each other. One guy got hit in the face but there was no blood or broken noses fortunately. These guys beat each other for almost half a minute before the guy with the black shirt fell.
Hula hoops! I could never figure out how to spin these. This lady knew how.
A cool inflatable slide. I didn’t see many people on it. This was the only photo I got of it. I forgot about it.
The next six photos are of people in and around the party.
A lady at a booth. I don’t know who she is or what she was doing but she was friendly.
A QUANTA 26 student! I take it from her shirt that she refuses to grow up.
A couple by the portrait booth. You could get a free portrait printed on the spot, but the line was long.
Three interesting party-goers trying to survive in the shade.
Four students retreating to the snack bar (bldg. 500) after the party.
Five students chilling out before the party began.
That’s all! I enjoyed this a lot. Even though I missed the first 90 minutes, they kept it going a little while after 1 P.M. so I had fun, met a lot of people, and got good photos. A great way to kick-start the semester!
